Managing Director, Program Design

Teaching Trust seeks a full-time Managing Director of Program Design to collaboratively lead the development and design of Teaching Trust’s high quality programming. This position is ideal for someone who brings a wealth of instructional knowledge, thrives on researching and adopting best practices, enjoys seeking and incorporating others’ ideas to achieve optimal results, knows how to effectively plan and execute complex projects, and wants to work on a fun, dynamic, goal-driven team.

Who We Are

Teaching Trust is a nonprofit organization grounded in the conviction that school leadership is the single largest lever to improve public education. We develop strategic, visionary leaders at multiple levels within schools and school systems to engage and lead accountable, collaborative teams. These teams in turn ensure schools have high quality teaching and learning and aspirational cultures, which are necessary to provide an education that eliminates the opportunity gap for low-income students and students of color.

What You'll Take On

You will lead the Program Design team to create content that results in impactful, high-quality professional development that meets the needs of our school system clients and results in changes to participants’ work practices in order to improve student achievement outcomes.

Additionally, you will:

  • Oversee the design, content development, and codification of all programs
  • Partner with Teaching Trust’s Chief Learning Officer to ensure the realization of programmatic and organization-wide goals
  • Develop a team-based environment to motivate and inspire staff to work collaboratively toward vision and goals
  • Coach, develop, and manage the Program Design team to inspire staff to do their best work; foster a growth minded, innovative, and psychologically safe work environment to support the growth of all team members
  • Lead instructional design and scripting of online and in-person tutorials to meet established learning objectives
  • Develop content tools and resources (e.g. writing content or assignments, session plan overviews, facilitator guides, presentation decks, etc.)
  • Find and summarize the latest research in key content areas, build bibliographies and resource libraries for participants
  • Continuously build content knowledge (through research, conference attendance, collaboration with expert external partners etc.) in leadership competencies in order to produce high quality professional learning programs to address program needs
  • Ensure user experience is aligned to the format and structure of Teaching Trust content
  • Lead creation of  internal and external facing documents to provide overviews of the content
  • Develop and facilitate online and in-person walkthroughs of developed content with staff members to ensure deep familiarity with all aspects of content contained within assembled/designed learning experiences for participants

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A minimum of six years of work experience; preferably in education
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Passion to work in an organization focused on ameliorating educational inequity
  • Exceptionally strong project management and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills with ability to build trusting relationships and buy-in, in order to drive results
  • High level of comfort taking and implementing feedback to improve the work
  • Ability to successfully navigate in a fast-paced, outcomes-driven and entrepreneurial environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness
  • Strong desire and ability to innovate and adopt new approaches to achieve results
  • Experience with culturally responsive teaching and/or blended learning highly preferred
